Where can I edit the initial email that goes out to a new user upon sign-up?

Check out the part about sending a custom email validation message (specifically, the getRegistrationActivationEmailMessage() method).

If you find this “how-to” still a little bit tricky, post back with your questions and I’ll try to clarify things.
