How to assign order issues

Ive followed the steps in How to Assign order to related records. For test purposes I used the exact field names from the howto. However I could not get it to work. I tried setting the order field to a hidden field and then I was told it was required. So I set it null…and also not null but default value 0. This did not work either.

So I am wondering, for this to work, does the primary key of the join field have to be something in particular? I tried setting it with all three fields, and with just the two joining fields minus the order field. This is definitely a feature we want to implement if I can get it goin.

Can you post the relationships.ini file and table definitions?
