Hello all -

Does this post represent the current state of ‘translation’ for Tables and Fields labels -
i.e The translations are appended into the language .ini files???
viewtopic.php?t=4010#20140

I’m working on a subproject for my research database I am in the midst of. The subproject is a Lexicon (I started it in Excel a year or so ago). Basically its a ‘universal code’ (identifier) and the correct/accepted term (word or phrase) + the accepted definition in multiple languages. I’d love to be able to populate my field labels from that effort. I guess anyone can see why I was so drawn to Xataface.

On a purely social note to this - what got me hooked was the two videos where Steve explained how things work. It was almost as I had envisioned doing things myself, except – clearly – better elaborated and brought to fruition.

Any thoughts???

Thanks very much for any input.

Yes. That is the current state of things. You can (and are encouraged) to manage these translation files in spreadsheets (you can use excel or any other spreadsheet app), then use the csv2ini tool (in the bin directory of Xataface) to convert the spreadsheets to ini files when done. More on that here:

Ok, thanks

I’m working on that (field names) now. Is there also a syntax for aliasing (translating) the table names, other than working with a delegate class?
